Citizen Support for Future Public Works Projects
Posted on Wednesday July 03, 2019
The City of Peculiar is requesting input from our residents regarding future street projects. These projects are eligible for Federal Grant Funds spanning the next 30 years in Peculiar. This is accomplished through the Regional Transportation Plan of the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC). These Projects are competing for these Federal Grant Funds across the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

What is a Regional Transportation Plan?

The Regional Transportation Plan Serves as a blueprint for managing the region’s transportation system. Required by the federal government, this plan identifies transportation improvements for the next 20 to 30 years. For the Kansas City region, which Peculiar is part of, MARC is developing a new plan for 2050 entitled "Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) 2050".

The RTP will consider:

·      Projected population and employment growth.

·      Maintenance of transportation facilities.

·      Safety.

·      Quality of Life.

·      Preserving the human and natural environment.

·      Climate change and energy use.

·      Public health.

·      New technologies and innovations in transportation.

·      Current and future transportation needs (air, bicycle, bus, pedestrian, rail, roads, water and others.)

How you can get involved

We ask that residents share their thoughts and support for the seven projects the City of Peculiar has submitted for consideration. This does NOT mean we will receive grant funds for these projects, however, your participation does assist the City in competing for funds. In the recent past, resident participation has been very beneficial and assisted Peculiar in securing federal funding for the Peculiar Way Interchange and for the School Road project.

Follow the links below to view and leave comments for each project submitted by the City.
